Know ye, That Benjamin Cooper a Private of Lieut. Bogges Company (L), Fourth Regiment of Ohio Cavalry Volunteers who was enrolled on the Nineteenth day of August one thousand eight hundred and Sixty-two to serve Three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States, this 24th day of June 1865, at Nashville by reason of Genl Order No. 83 W.D. May 8/65. (No objection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist.)

Said Benjamin Cooper was born in Covington in the State of Kentucky, is Eighteen years of age, Five feet Six inches high, Light complexion, Blue eyes, Light hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a Envelope Maker.

Given at Nashville this Twenty fourth day of June 1865.

B.F. COOPER (name also found as Benjamin F. COOPER) enlisted in Co. L, 4th Reg't, Ohio Cavalry, on August 23, 1862, and mustered out with Company on June 24, 1865, as a private. At enlistment: Age 18; Height 5 feet 6 inches; Light Complexion; Blue Eyes; Light Hair; born Covington, Kentucky; occupation - envelope maker. States that his wife, Rachel COOPER, was dead (on November 22, 1907). When asked about marriage, stated that he was married in Cincinnati, Ohio, but did not state date, and "I do not remember by whom, have kept no records." When asked what record of marriage exists, stated "Two strapping Big Boys. I should think that was record enough." States that he was married only once and has two boys, Cassius G. COOPER 32 years old and Frank P. COOPER 30 years old. States that he was born August 22, 1844 in Covington (Kenton County) Kentucky. Post office address at enlistment given as "Cutter St., Cincinnati, Ohio." Place of residence prior to enlistment was Cincinnati and has lived in Cincinnati all the time since discharge. Present occupation (November 22, 1907) is boiler Inspector, Hartford S.B.I. & El. Co. Height 5 feet 6 inches, weight about 165 pounds, eyes blue, light hair and light complexion. Had a small scar left eyebrow, also left side of mustache, also on thigh right leg, also on wrist of right arm, also on knee joint of left leg. Current post office address 769 Mt. Hope Avenue, Price Hill, Cincinnati, Ohio. Under the "Act of February 6, 1907" was granted a pension of $12 per month.

Benjamin F. COOPER of 769 Mt. Hope Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio, died Nov 1, 1911 of cerebral hemorhage following or complicated with acute myocardial insufficiency. He was born Aug. 1, 1843 (age at death, 68 years, 3 months) in Kentucky. Occupation: boiler inspector; widowed. Father - Enos COOPER (birthplace unknown); mother - Rachel (birthplace unknown). Information supplied by Frank P. COOPER of 769 Mt. Hope Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio. Buried Wesleyen Cemetery on Nov 4, 1911.

Buried November 4, 1911, in Wesleyan Cemetery (NW corner, Colerain & Hofner, Lot no. 13, Section no. T, Grave no. 10). Born August 1, 1844, in Kentucky. Next of kin Frank R. COOPER, 769 Mr. Hope Road, Cincinnati, Ohio. Served in the Civil War from August 19, 1862, through June 26, 1865, as private in Company L, 5th Ohio Volunteer Calvary. An upright grave marker was provided.

Cemetery Certificate

The directors of the Wesleyan Cemetery of Cincinnati hereby certify that B. F. Cooper of the City of Cincinnati and the State of Ohio is the owner for the uses hereinafter mentioned, of the whole of that certain Lot numbered Thirteen (No. 13) containing two hundred and fifty six square feet in Section T on the Plat of the Grounds of said Cemetery at Cumminsville in Hamilton County, Ohio, as found in the office of the Secretary of the Board of Directors for which entire Lot the said B. F. Cooper has paid to the said Directors of said Wesleyan Cemetery, the sum of Seventy five Dollars and the said B. F. Cooper and his heirs and assigns are entitled to the use of the said entire Lot forever for the purposes of sepulture alone, subject to the provisions of the Act of the General Assembly of Ohio, passed Feb. 9th, 1823, entitled "An Act to Incorporate the Directors of the Wesleyan Cemetery of Cincinnati."
