Died. HILLS at his home in the town of Calamus,
Dodge County, Wisconsin, 13 August 1908.
Mr. Henry A. HILLS in the 74th year of his age.

Mr. HILLS was a native of New York state. He was the son of Sidney and Melissa LINDSLEY HILLS and was born in Martinsburg, N.Y., 23 March 1832, where his early days were spent. After the usual course of instruction in private schools, he entered Fairfield Academy where he prepared himself for his useful life in a new country.

In the fall of 1857 he came to Wisconsin and settled on a farm in the town of Calamus which he fitted up for his home and where he spent the most of his eventful life. He was united in marriage to Mary A. WHEELOCK at Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, 18 April 1860. Nine children were born to them of whom five survive with their mother to mourn their great loss. These are Mary A. CROFOOT, Chicago, Ill., Rev. Henry A. HILLS, Humbird, Wisconsin, Mrs. Cornelia H. MASON and Mrs. Lucy H. SHESKEY of Calamus and Lorenz L. HILLS of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. All of these children were with their father when he died.

Mr. HILLS was a loving father and husband and greatly respected in the community. He held several important offices in the town and was identified with the best interests of the people. He was devoted to his family and to the work of the farm and in the winter season he taught in the public schools for more than twenty-five years. In the school district of South Beaver Dam he taught fourteen terms and is gratefully remembered by many of his scholars who are indebted to him for faithful instructions they received in their early years.

The funeral of Mr. HILLS was on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at the old homestead in Calamus and his burial in Oakwood Cemetery.
