Died -- at the Fountain house in Cherokee, Iowa. October 8, 1887 of Bright's disease, Oliver P. MINOR of Diamond township, aged 56 years.

Mr. MINOR was an old resident of Cherokee County and for many years of Diamond township, where he was universally esteemed and respected. Coming to Cherokee county in an early day when that portion of the county was but thinly settled, he purchased a small farm and by industry and perseverance brought the wild acres on the Maple to a high state of perfection and improvement. At times having added to the small farm originally settled upon he owned, at his death, as fine a farm as there is in the township. Mr. MINOR's death was very sudden and unexpected. On Wednesday last, he was about the streets with the expectation of several years of life. This disease fastened upon Mr. MINOR some two years ago and at this time he had come to the city for medical treatment and on the day of his death was to undergo a surgical operation for his relief, but death came first. The funeral services took place at his home on Monday last and the remains of one of Diamond's early settlers laid to rest in that silent city of the dead. The sympathies of many friends throughout the county are with the bereaved family in this their great affliction. "But the Healer was there and poured balm on their hearts."
