A BRIEF LIFE HISTORY

Albert O. Schauer was born in Dovray Township of Murray County, Minnesota, on December 14, 1907, to Reinhart and Magdelena Rupp Schauer. He was baptized and later confirmed in Emmanual Lutheran Church in Rosehill Township. He grew up in the Westbrook area, attending rural schools and graduated from Westbrook High School.

He was united in marriage to Vivian Nelsen on December 14, 1937. They became the parents of five children while they farmed in the Westbrook area. In 1948 they moved to Storden Township where he continued to farm as well as sell springer heifers, feeder pigs, and seed corn. In 1970 they retired from farming and moved to Windom where he worked part-time at the Star Hatchery, continued his seed corn business, and also sold Conklin products.

Albert and Vivian were members of the American Lutheran Church and he enjoyed the activities of the Golden K Club as well as traveling and knitting stocking caps on a hand loom.

As his health deteriorated, it became necessary for him to enter Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Center in Windom in July of 1990. The family is very grateful for the loving concern and care given to Albert during his years of living in the Center.

On Monday, October 5, 1998,k Albert died at the Sogge Center at the age of 90 years, 9 months, and 21 days.

Albert leaves to mourn his passing his children: Larry and wife Judy of Storden; Linda and husband Dennis Karow of Prior Lake, MN; Charles of St. Petersburg, FL; and Kathleen Ziller of Lakeville, MN, his son-in-law Merlin Hansen of Storden, MN; one sister, Susie Olson of Fort Dodge, IA; 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters-in-law and four brothers-in-law, as well as a host of other relatives and friends including Joyce Schauer of St. Petersburg, FL.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian; daughter Rachel Hansen; brother, Harry; an infant brother, Alvin; and grandson, Dennis Hansen.
