Mathilda Sackschewsky's grandfather died in Germany when her father, August, was fifteen years old. Ten years later in 1872 at the age of twenty-five he decided to come to America. His mother came in 1878 and eventually his brothers, Gottleib and William, and his two sisters, Mrs. Herman Blum (Ottilia) and Mrs. Henrietta (Henry) Marquardt also came to America. August was born March 7, 1847.

The trip to America for August took eleven weeks by sailboat. He first went to Wisconsin for one year, then migrated to York, Nebraska, where he homesteaded eighty acres of land. This place is now occupied by the youngest son, Herbert. (now deceased)

August Sackschewsky met Albertina Rich at Luahton, Nebraska. She was sixteen years at the time. His cousin, Emily Marquardt, told him of this girl. He saw her the second time to set their wedding date and the third meeting was their wedding day. Their wedding date was second Easter Day, April 17, 1876.

This newly married couple first lived in a dug-out on the homesteaded acres. Later they built a two room structure and in 1899 built it much larger. Fourteen (14) children were born to them. Mathilda, being about in the middle of the family of children.

Mathilda Sackschewsky met her future husband, L.H.R. Noding, for the first time when he came to Nebraska to visit the Marquardt's who were his cousins. She was eighteen at the time. Six weeks later the wedding was performed March 5, 1914, at Thayer, Nebraska.

The young couple returned to the farm they were bying in Rosehill township, in Minnesota. Mathilda brought as her dowry the sum of $500.00, which was used in the farming operation, buying a drag and various other equipment. The original house, which had all dirt floors and was very rustic, had a kitchen and one bedroom downstairs and an attic which was used as a bedroom. Five living children were born in this house. In 1925, when twins were born, a new house was built which is still presently used. After moving into the new house another son and another pair of twins were born.

After the death of her husband in 1972, Mathilda moved to an aparmtent in Minneapolis to be near her twin daughters, Nora and Dora. She died of cancer on February 22, 1975 and was buried on February 26, 1975, the birthday of her twin daughters, Nora and Dora.

She was the mother of ten children: Arthur, Ida, Alfred, Pearl, Orville, Nora, Dora, Eugene, Louis, and Lee Noding.

Father's brothers, Gottlieb and William Sackschewsky and two sisters, Mrs. Ottilia (Herman) Blum and Mrs. Heneritta (Henry) Marquardt, also came to America. This place is now occupied by the youngest son, Herbert. Father, August, met Albertina Rich at Lushton, Nebraska. His cousin, Emily Marquardt told him of this girl. He saw her the second time to set their wedding day. Their wedding date was second Easter day April 17, 1876. The folks made their home two miles west of Thayer, first living in a dug-out. They later built a two room frame structure east of the present home. In 1899 they moved this structure to its present place where they built the house larger.
