Notes for Timothy WHEELOCK

Timothy removed to New Ipswich, NH, in 1768, with his wife Sarah, and eight children, all of whom were born in Shrewsbury. After the death of his wife, he moved back to Shrewsbury, MA, and married Abigail (Muzzy) Sherman, widow of Joseph Sherman, Jr. (Source: "History of Shrewsbury", Ward; "History of New Ipswich, NH, 1735-1914", by Charles Henry Chandler and Sarah Fiske Lee, Sentinel Printing Company, Fitchburg, MA, 1914)

According to the DAR records (DAR ID 15190, Mrs. Cornelia Wheelock Brown) Timothy served in the Revolutionary War as a minute man at the Lexington Alarm from New Ipswitch, NH. He also served at Ticonderoga. Both Joel, and Ithamar appear in the New Hampshire Rolls, from Ipswitch, NH. Timothy also appears on the Rolls. It is possible that this Timothy is the brother of Joel and Ithamar, and not the father; and that the DAR record may refer to the wrong Timothy.
