Obituary (Franklin County Sentinel, Thurs, January 28, 1971, 2nd section 1:7)
Eliza Jane Boyce, daughter of Robert and Sarah Sturges, was born December 29, 1885 in Franklin County, Nebraska, and departed this life January 14, 1971 at the Franklin County Memorial Hospital, at the age of 85 years and 17 days.
She was united in marriage September 9, 1904, with Charles Boyce at Hiawatha, Kans., where the early years of their marriage were spent. Later they established residence in Franklin, where she lived the rest of her life.
She was a kind and loving mother, always giving of herself to her family and friends. Her hobbies included gardening and needlework, and she loved to read and spent many hours with her Bible. She was a life long member of the Franklin united Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son Robert D.
Survivors include her son Clarence of Gering; four daughters, Mrs Sandy Meade of Franklin, Mrs Lloyd Carr of Sidney, Mrs Marvin Stover of Fairfield, Mrs George Wise of Alberquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Mary Evans of Lincoln; one brother Robert Sturges of Ukiah, Calif; and 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at Hutchins Funeral Home in Franklin Saturday, January 16, 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Harold Dodson officiating.
Music was furnished by George Kleen, accompanied by Mrs. Alma Huisman, organist.
Pallbearers were Sandy Meade, Neil Meade, Lloyd Carr, Marvin Stover, Ronald Stover and George Wise.
Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery,
