Notes for William Richard MINOR

Obituary for W.R. MINOR
W.R. MINOR, 76, summoned on Sunday. Illness covering a long period of time was ended when death summoned William R. Minor Sunday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Len Brouillet, in Mason Township. In failing health for the past 2 years, Mr. Minor continued to be up and around until last Sept., when he was compelled to take to his bed, and despite the care of loving hands, he continued to fail until the end. Funeral services were held yesterday at the Methodist church with internment in the Slayton cemetery. Rev. G. Wells conducted the services and the quartet from the church choir sang special music. William Richard Minor was born 2/13/1868 at Green Bay, WI, and had attained the age of 76 years, 1 month and 11 days. He was married in 1883 to Miss Josephine Hills, at Beaver Dam, WI. To this union, 5 children were born: Lorenzo, who died at Hawley, MN in 1918, Mrs. Miles Sturges, Mrs. Joe Staples, Mrs. Len Brouillet and Howard Minor. The family lived for a time at Canton, SD and there, in 1893, Mrs. Minor passed away. Five years later, Mr. Minor married Miss Cynthia Whitman at Aurelia, Iowa. Five children were born: Melvin of St. Cloud, MN, Basil, Darrel, and Mrs. Vern Olafson, all of Portland, Oregon and Herschell of Monticello, MN. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Frank and Irvin of Cherokee, Iowa. Mr. Minor was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor, patiently accepted his suffering and met his trials with fortitude.

William Minor's obituary indicates that only five children (Herschel, Melvin, Calla, Basil, and Darrel) were born to William and Cynthia Minor. That and the close dates between the births of William and Herschel make the first child listed (William Minor) highly suspect.
