Jacob Huffman

Jacob Albert HUFFMAN was born in Union County Ohio on 19 December 1843, the son of Daniel and Susannah (DYSERT) HUFFMAN. As a child, he moved with his family to Mercer County. He served in the Civil War with Company D, 71st Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was wounded at Nashville, Tennessee. On 6 August 1868 he married Anna M. Cline in Greene County. He and Anna lived for a while after their marriage in Mercer County, then moved to Greene County and finally to Clark County Ohio. He farmed near Jamestown, Ohio.

Anna M. CLINE HUFFMAN was born on 21 January 1853 in Clifton, Ohio, the daughter of Joseph CLINE and Sarah E. IRELAND CLINE.Jacob and Anna had eight children, three sons and five daughters. Anna died of cancer on 27 October 1907 at the family home on Peacock Road south of Springfield (Greene Township, Clark County), Ohio at the age of 54. At the time of Anna's death, the youngest child, Harry, was still living at home. It is said that Harry took his mother's death very hard, holding her lifeless body in his arms, and for some time refusing to give it up for burial. Anna is buried in the Clifton Cemetery northwest of Clifton, Ohio.

In 1900 (after the death of his wife Anna in 1907), Jacob was living with his daughter Viola and son-in-law William A. HARPHANT in Green Township (Clark) Ohio. Jacob HUFFMAN died on 10 June 1925 at the home of his daughter Josie Deffenbaugh, on Clifton Street in Springfield at the age of 81. Jacob is buried with his wife Anna in the Clifton Cemetery northwest of Clifton, Ohio.
